Let's get started with setting up your Slack and Whistle integration so you can start sending payments directly from a Slack chat.

1. A Whistle account is required to use the Whistle Slack Bot

You can create your Whistle account beforehand by going here: https://app.wewhistle.com/setup or you can create it as part of the Slack Bot installation process.

2. Install the Whistle Slack Bot with this link: https://slack.com/oauth/v2/authorize?client_id=3055597415141.3291058509153&scope=channels:history,chat:write,chat:write.public,commands,users:read,users:read.email&user_scope=identity.basic

3. You will be prompted with an authorization screen that should look something like this:

(if you have multiple Slack workspaces, be sure to choose the one where you want to use Whistle from the dropdown in the upper right)

After you click Allow you will be redirected to Whistle where you can create an account if you haven’t already.

4. Back on Slack, you will not have access to the Whistle Bot commands:

/pay

/balance

/budgets

You can learn more about using Slack once the integration is complete here.

Depending on the order you created the accounts in, you may be required to correlate your Slack account and Whistle account. We’ll let you know if that’s the case. Type the /balance command into slack and hit enter.

If you see the below message you will need to click the link to correlate the accounts.

Once that’s done you’re free to use the commands in Slack! At this point you’ll probably want to go back to Whistle and fund a Budget if you haven’t already.
